Meet Sideritis scardica

Greek mountain tea is an herbal infusion made from plants in the Sideritis genus. It is a different plant from Camellia sinensis, which is used for black and green tea. Naming the species is more precise than the common name “mountain tea” alone.

Our guide to Sideritis names on labels explains the botanical names. The Greek mountain tea guide gives a broader introduction, and your first cup of Greek mountain tea covers preparation.

Make room for the tea ritual

Prepare the tea following the instructions on the pack, using a pot or strainer that suits the plant material. Try it plain first, with lemon or honey on the side. The 40 g figure is the pack weight. The number of cups depends on how much you use each time.
